Student Leadership Workshops

What are Student Leadership Workshops?

For 30+ years Tim Lautzenheiser has been conducting Student Leadership Workshops at various locations throughout the country. We have put together a brief overview of the workshop format to give you a better idea of what the students will experience during the workshop. We appreciate your interest and support, and remember you’re always welcome to call us at 800/233-7846 with any questions you may have.

The workshop is designed for high school student leaders, all participants will be actively involved….this is not a lecture type situation…through activities, examples and valuable information, students will be exposed to the following:

  • Setting High Standards of Excellence
  • Fundamentals of Self-Discipline
  • Effective Communication Principles
  • Value of Risk
  • Behavior Modification vs. Motivation
  • Dealing with Insecurities

The anticipated outcomes of the workshop are:

  • Independent Carry Through
  • Sensitivity to Peers
  • Development of a Positive Attitude
  • Understanding of I/Me vs. We/Us
  • Understanding Consequences of Complacency
  • Increased Level of Cooperation
  • Commitment to Self-Improvement

PERSONAL NOTE from TIM LAUTZENHEISER:

Even though we will not be putting a limit on the number of students a program can register, it is imperative that those students attending do meet the criteria outlined below. This will afford the presented curriculum to embrace more engaging hands-on experiences with the participants.

Simply put, a smaller group of SELECT STUDENT LEADERS creates more possibilities of developing a collective synergy that will have a lasting imprint on their own future and those they will be working with along the way. This is not about CONVINCING PEOPLE TO BECOME LEADERS, but rather SERIOUS TRAINING FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY CHOSEN TO BE LEADERS. This is going to be incredibly fast moving and it will require complete “buy-in” from the get-go.

Primarily 11th and 12th graders should be the make-up of the workshop. These should be students who already demonstrate a high degree of positive participation, proactive role models, and those who exemplify a healthy open-minded attitude. We are going to DIG MUCH DEEPER than we have in the past, and there will not be any room for those who might be timid or ambivalent.

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DIRECTOR/TEACHER/SPONSOR:

We are asking the directors/teachers/sponsors to select the candidates with this consideration, “WHO IS REALLY READY TO TAKE ON THIS IMPORTANT TASK?” It would be unfair to a student to be in the group if they did not bring to the table a sense of personal maturity and the desire to serve others as the foundation to their leadership spirit.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I have witnessed certain signs about the possibilities of collective energy throughout the years; it is extraordinary when it happens, and those students involved go back to their schools with creative new insights about the possibilities within their own environments. We so appreciate our hosts going the extra mile to make the workshops happen this year…..they are the BEST!!!

As always, if you have any questions please call us at 800/233-7846 or email timact@aol.com. Thank you for your time and interest.
